Someone posted that Mason was a backup school, because he got rejected from JMU with "a 3.2 1320 SAT (old SAT out of 1600) and a decent bit of extracurriculars." Are you serious? JMU's average SAT scores are about 1140--very average for a school that thinks it's on par with UVA--and the school's acceptance rate is over 60 percent. This post has to be from someone who is trying to make JMU look like UVA. GMU is no longer considered a backup college; it is a first-rate university, and students should be proud to be accepted at Mason.

Got rather stellar grades in hsNov 18 2008Political Science
Got rather stellar grades in hs. Mainly A's and some B's. And a good SAT score will help. It's becoming really competitive with GMU's increased reputation, and kids from hs that would normally attend UVA or VTech are applying here more.

When I first started here in 05 pretty much anyone could get in. I only went here because I got rejected from JMU when I had a 3.2 1320 SAT (old SAT out of 1600) and a decent bit of extracurriculars. Supposedly they have gotten tougher though. But if you can get in here you can get in other places.
